Last night, I did some live painting at one of Spindle magazine's music events, 'Introducing ... ?' It was a lot of fun, so a big thank you to everyone that made it down, and to Spindle for inviting me along!

London Fashion Week Illustrations

Here are some fashion illustrations I did for Spindle mag's London Fashion Week diary.

It was an interesting project for me as there was a short turnaround for each image. I always have a million ideas about how I want to approach an illustration when I get the brief, but you have to find a compromise that you're happy with when you don't have much time.

I was still playing around with the same ideas that I have been recently, scanned-in textures, off-register blocks of colour, negative space, and overlaid line work. However, I found that I had to focus on the elements that could be made quickly. I think there were some interesting results, I definitely found some ideas I'll take into my next project.

Taschen's 'Illustration NOW! Volume 4'.

I'm happy to announce that I've been included in Taschen's 'Illustration NOW! Volume 4'. It's a collection of 150 international illustrators, including established names such as Luke Best, David Foldvari, and MC Bess, and talent as featured by me on Ape on the Moon, like Eda Akultun, Janine Rewell, and Adam Quest. They've very kindly given me four pages, including six illustrations on page 092.

A big thank you to Julius Wiedemann for considering me and producing such a beautiful edition!

The 19.6 x 24.9 cm, 448-page book is available from the Taschen website now for £24.99 (ISBN: 978-3-8365-2423-0).

This is the poster I designed for the group exhibition curated by Spindle magazine, which you can catch now at Madame Geisha in Brighton.

I was working on issue four's theme of 'perfection'. I was interested in mathematical rules that occur within science and nature. Patterns can be found in and around anything that exists in the universe once they are broken down into their simplest elements. The number six is the first 'perfect number' in theoretical mathematics, it's polygonal and polyhedral forms both presenting fundamental rules that are true in the world around us.

I'll be down there with an array of creatives selling a wide range of artist-made products, all for £1 each! Bargain! A Poem

This is the second of the two illustrations I recently did for a magazine. Unfortunately, neither ended making it into the issue. This was for a poem about the greed and over-indulgent lifestyles of two guys that grew up having been handed everything and not having to work for anything themselves. Although I only got half a day to work on this, I was still pretty pleased with it. Shame it never got used!

One of two quick illustrations I recently did for a magazine. They unfortunately weren't included in the end, but I thought it'd still be nice to share them. This would've been for an article based on a 1987 playlist. Both images were done in one day but I'm still pretty happy with them. I might make the cassette tapes into a repeat pattern.
